Kyle Beckham Hardy is HERE!

He's finally here! Born on October 9th, 2010 at 2:56 p.m. Beck was 7 lbs, 15 oz. and 20.75 inches long. On the 8th, Kyle and I were on a date to the movies. I started having some abdominal pain during the movie, and it was getting pretty uncomfortable. Because of my high blood pressure, I started to worry that the abdominal pain was a sign that my pre-eclampsia (don't know if I spelled it right...) was starting to take a toll. We decided after the movie that we'd head to the hospital to check it out.

Once we got to the hospital, they checked my blood pressure and it was high, but not really threatening. They hooked me up to some monitors to check Beck's heartbeat and to track my contractions. It turned out my abdominal pain was really a bunch of contractions strung together. After taking my blood and doing a few other simple tests, the nurse was set on sending me home. I was only dilated to a 3, and the contractions weren't unbearable. Kyle and I were a little disappointed, but we were ready to head back home. The nurse went to call the Dr., and she came back with some different news than we were expecting; I was going to be induced! Dr. Hodges decided that since I was 39 weeks along, my blood pressure was a little high, and I was having contractions, why not have a baby.

To make a long story short, I was on pitocin for about 12 hours, dilated fully to a 10, and started pushing. Beck was facing up, which was making it extra difficult. After pushing for about 3 hours, and after the Dr. attempted to turn Beck several times, the conclusion was made that he wasn't coming out on his own. His size and position made it impossible. I headed into the O.R. for a C-section. After just a few short minutes, Beck was here! My whole body was numb, so Kyle brought him up to my face so I could give him a kiss before they took him away to the nursery.

Here's some pictures Kyle took of Beck's first moments in the world:

Wow sounds like a very eventful day for you, goodness, sad you had to have a c-section at the last min and they didnt just do that to begin with! :) Remember I am the c-section queen, so I prefer it!
He is so adorable, can't wait to see more of him! Hope you are feeling ok, c-sections are rough on the bod! Love you, rest a lot and then rest some more! :)
