Exciting Stuff

Just an update on some things that have happened in the last little bit...

- Beck lost the rest of his umbilical cord! Gross I know, but I've got a picture to prove it! Raisin anyone?

- This week was Beck's little newborn photo shoot. Here's a few highlights...

This one cracks me up. I know now why they say you should do newborn photos within the first week of birth. He was impossible to pose. The idea was to have him curled up into a little ball on top of those towels...he knew better; he's holding on for dear life!

- Beck touched Grandpa Grant's guitar! This is a big deal, and his face shows it. Grandpa's pretty protective over his guitars.

-Church! We went to Relief Society together to hear Grandma Hardy's lesson. Here's Baby B's first church outfit...

Kyle Beckham Hardy is HERE!

He's finally here! Born on October 9th, 2010 at 2:56 p.m. Beck was 7 lbs, 15 oz. and 20.75 inches long. On the 8th, Kyle and I were on a date to the movies. I started having some abdominal pain during the movie, and it was getting pretty uncomfortable. Because of my high blood pressure, I started to worry that the abdominal pain was a sign that my pre-eclampsia (don't know if I spelled it right...) was starting to take a toll. We decided after the movie that we'd head to the hospital to check it out.

Once we got to the hospital, they checked my blood pressure and it was high, but not really threatening. They hooked me up to some monitors to check Beck's heartbeat and to track my contractions. It turned out my abdominal pain was really a bunch of contractions strung together. After taking my blood and doing a few other simple tests, the nurse was set on sending me home. I was only dilated to a 3, and the contractions weren't unbearable. Kyle and I were a little disappointed, but we were ready to head back home. The nurse went to call the Dr., and she came back with some different news than we were expecting; I was going to be induced! Dr. Hodges decided that since I was 39 weeks along, my blood pressure was a little high, and I was having contractions, why not have a baby.

To make a long story short, I was on pitocin for about 12 hours, dilated fully to a 10, and started pushing. Beck was facing up, which was making it extra difficult. After pushing for about 3 hours, and after the Dr. attempted to turn Beck several times, the conclusion was made that he wasn't coming out on his own. His size and position made it impossible. I headed into the O.R. for a C-section. After just a few short minutes, Beck was here! My whole body was numb, so Kyle brought him up to my face so I could give him a kiss before they took him away to the nursery.

Here's some pictures Kyle took of Beck's first moments in the world:

Baby Shower!

Since I have yet to put any pictures up, I wanted to post a few of the AMAZING baby shower my family threw for me! It was a baseball theme, and Kyle and our brother-in-law Dan even went around handing out Cracker Jacks and hotdogs. During gift opening, there was a 'seventh inning stretch,' complete with a song written by my sister-in-law, Kelli. It went like this, to the tune of "Take Me Out to the Ball Game":

THE 7TH CENTIMETER STRETCH
Take me down to St. Luke's
Pump me full of those meds
Bring me some ice chips and popsicles
And one of those big balls to help with my back
Oh Kyle won't you please shut-up
This is all of your fault you know
For it's PUSH PUSH PUSH and Beck's out
Oh what sweet re-lief!

I had such a good time and I am SO grateful for all of the wonderful gifts we received!

The First Post

Since I'm not big into scrapbooking, I thought a blog would be a good idea to keep track of our little guy and that happenings in the Hardy family. Plus, this way family can see, too. :)

Until I get some pictures up, I'll give a quick update on the things happening over here!

-As of today, I am 38 weeks and 4 days pregnant with our first little boy, who we are naming Kyle Beckham Hardy. We'll call him 'Beckham', or 'Beck'.

-At my last Dr.'s appt. yesterday, I was dilated to a 3 and now I'm just waiting, and waiting, and waiting! If by Friday Baby B doesn't come, I can choose to schedule an induction. I haven't decided if this is what I'd like to do or not.

-I've been put on moderate bedrest because my blood pressure has been higher than normal. It seems that when I lay down, my blood pressure goes down, too, so that's what I've been doing. I've had to skip out on work the past few weeks to keep it down, as well. I'm getting nice and bored! I guess I'd better enjoy it while it lasts?

- I had 2 AWESOME baby showers, and combined with the gifts and gift cards I've received, I was able to get EVERYTHING that we will need for the first few months the baby is born, without us having to spend a dime. What a blessing!

I want to get some pictures up, so I'll stop talking for now until I get some posted. It's only a matter of time before he's here!!!
